Council to make Enterprise to pay for rubbish collection debacle
EALING town hall is drawing up plans to hit recycling contractor Enterprise with a fine for its disastrous handling of street cleaning and rubbish collection.
The council is currently using data about missed collections, dirty streets and other problems to calculate how much the financial penalty should be.
It will be deducted from the next pay cheque sent to the company which is paid monthly by the council.
Liberal Democrat Gary Malcolm accused the council of being secretive about the plans.
He said: "The Liberal Democrat Group demand to know when Enterprise will be fined and how much the fine will be. Residents deserve to be told instead of the council not wishing to be more open."
A council spokeswoman said: "Officers have calculated a default value against failure to meet contract performance standards since April 2012.
"It would not be appropriate to disclose any related figures at this time."
An Enterprise spokeswoman said: "We're working with the council to improve the quality of service delivery."
