Apply for tickets for Olympic torch party in Walpole Park
RESIDENTS are urged to apply for free tickets to a party celebrating Ealing playing host to the Olympic flame.
The borough is just one of six in London chosen to be an overnight stop-over during the torch relay towards the end of its 70-day journey across the UK.
A party will be held in Walpole Park at the end of its travels through the borough, where a cauldron will be lit with the historic flame.
Rapper Loick Essien has been announced as the headliner and there will be a range of other music and acrobatic performances, organised by Torch Relay sponsors Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on July 24.
Tickets will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.
Residents are also being encouraged to take to the streets to cheer on the Olympic torch relay as it travels through the borough.
The flame begins its journey through Ealing at Northala Fields before travelling south.
Visit www.london2012.com/olympictorchrelay for details of which streets the torchbearers will be travelling along.
Residents must register on the council website www.ealing.gov.uk/register for tickets for the Walpole Park event.
They will then receive a link allowing them to apply from 10am on Tuesday..
