Meadow House extension opened by Chief Nursing Officer
MEADOW House Hospice's new Maria Brennan conservatory will be officially opened by Dame Christine Beasley, DBE, Chief Nursing Officer for England tomorrow (16)
The £500,000 project, with around half the money raised locally among organisations, business and individuals, includes new offices and counselling space, revamped visitors' room and information centre. The conservatory was named after the hospice's founder, first manager and major fund raising manager. Maria Brennan raised thousands of pounds for the hospice before retiring in 2007.
The fund-raising campaign for the extension was launched, with Gazette backing, in 2007 and work started last September. Local stores, including Sainsbury's and M&S held fund-raising events with many donations being made by people who had used the hospice.
