Ealing Animal Welfare Bazaar back on track
A popular fundraising event which was cancelled last year due to 'excessive' hall hire costs will now be setting up at a church in Hanwell.
The annual Animal Welfare Bazaar which raises much needed funds as well as giving information and advice to visitors, will be going ahead at Hanwell Methodist Church, Church Road, on Saturday March 6 to the delight of the organisers.
Marion Garnett, who has organised the bazaar for 32 years was angered last February after being told Victoria Hall at Ealing Town Hall was scheduled to undergo refurbishment and the hire costs would more than treble, despite the campaigners already forking out £500 advertising the event and venue.
Mrs Garnett, said: "After last year's disappointment where we had to cancel the event, we're very much looking forward to holding the bazaar at a new venue; at the church.
"We're sorry that it won't be going ahead in the Town Hall as it has for the last 30 years but it was just too expensive and the church is much more affordable.
"The new venue should work out very well and already, 25 societies have signed up to pitch stalls on the day.
"A lot of people really support the causes and it's an event to raise awareness of the suffering of animals which does go on and for people to speak to stall holders and pick up information.
"As well as picking up bargains and having a lovely day, it's also a way of showing that we care about what's going on with animal cruelty."
The animal welfare bazaar will take place at the church on March 6 from 10:30am to 4pm.
Admission is free and there will be refreshments, including options for Vegans and Vegetarians.
