Posted by Paloma Kubiak on Jan 6, 10 05:15 PM in Local Authority

Vandals broke into Ealing Town Hall damaging computer equipment but no documents or information appears to have been stolen.

The break in happened on the evening of Monday January 4 and several rooms in Ealing Town Hall, including the Labour Group and Cabinet offices were targeted.

Labour Councillor John Gallagher, said: "We were very surprised to learn about the break-in and this does reflect badly on the levels of council security."

A council spokeswoman confirmed the break-in and said: "Drawers were forced open and computer equipment damaged but no documents or information appear to have been stolen.

"The Police are investigating and security arrangements at the Town Hall have been tightened."
