Glenkerrin's reaction to Ealing Arcadia refusal

Sean O'Gorman, director of Glenkerrin, said: "We're bitterly disappointed having gone through a three year democratic planning process and having listened to the local community and amended the scheme on a number of occasions.

"The scheme got a majority decision of recommendation and we worked extensively with the Commission for Architecture and the built environment (CABE) and the Mayor of London gave the scheme his approval.

"We are looking through and reading the report and are currently considering our options.

"It's a devastating blow for the regeneration of Ealing and this will set it back.

"We had worked extensively with the Ealing Borough and with the local councillors in coming forward with the scheme.

"Ealing is a place where we have long said is punching below its weight and dying on its feet.

"All the retail statistics show underperformance and underachievement and annually they're falling down the scale of retail ranking.

"All the listening and public consultation responded to that and our scheme, being in the heart of Ealing, is certainly an opportunity missed with the coming of Cross Rail.

"Over the last three years we have spent £10million pounds."

We'd like to hear from you.
