Pitshanger Picnic In The Park
FAMILY and friends came together for a picnic in the park on a Sunday afternoon as part of the Pitshanger Lane centenary celebrations.
More than 200 families gathered in Pitshanger Park for the picnic day and there were also arts and crafts activities, face painting, family photos on display, a storytime tent, a children's disco and entertainment for all the family.
Helen Housego was presented with a 'Pride of Pitshanger' certificate by the Pitshanger Community Association, who hosted the event, and was awarded £100 in recognition of her many years community work with children.
The day ended with people singing 'Happy Birthday Pitshanger' before a special centenary cake was cut to celebrate 100 years of the community Lane.
John Waters, a PCA Centenary Coordinator, said: "The day was absolutely brilliant and the weather was great so people could sit out on their rugs and enjoy the sunny afternoon.
"We've never held a picnic in the park before but it's all part of a year's events to celebrate 100 years of Pitshanger Lane and I think there will probably be another organised for next year.
"It was organised a day before the kids went back to school and was an inexpensive but fun day for all the family and the cake at the end was a beautiful touch."
