Armed Forces Day in Ealing

The first ever national Armed Forces Day will take place this Saturday from 11am-4pm.

Mum Claire Prosser speaks for the first time about their anguish following the death of her son, Tom, aged 14, from an undiagnosed heart condition.

Since Tom's death two years ago she and her husband Paul Clabburn have been pivotal in the national charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)raising £20,000. The couple are backing the latest screening at Brentford FC this weekend which could help to save lives.

Floristry students from Capel Manor in Acton made a replica of the Queen's coronation bouquet in 1953 and presented it to Buckingham Palace.

The floristry students from Capel Manor College's Gunnersbury Park centre were commissioned to produce the replica bouquet by the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, and under the guidance of senior floristry tutor Michelle Moore created an exact copy of the original.


Every household in the borough could receive £50 to fight the recession after the council announced it had a healthy level of reserves and wanted to share the money with residents.

The value for money premium will see each of the 122,000 households gain a share of £6 million if the scheme is approved and the money could be given out by December 1.

Organised by the Pitshanger Community Association, the event coincides with the centenary of Pitshanger Lane.
