Extra police officers are set to patrol trains and stations around Ealing as part of the Mayor of London's pledge to tackle crime and disorder.
Extra police officers are set to patrol trains and stations around Ealing as part of the Mayor of London's pledge to tackle crime and disorder.
Another eight British Transport Police officers are to be based at Acton Mainline as part of a 50-strong force for outer London stations announced by Boris Johnson.
The team hopes to provide visible reassurance to passengers after dark and crack down on anti-social behaviour.
Officers will patrol at Acton mainline and other stations which are not run by Transport for London, including Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, Hanwell, Southall, Drayton Green, Castle Bar Park, South Greenford and Greenford.
Mr Johnson said: "During the election campaign I made a pledge that I would make London's suburban stations safer, because everyone has the right to travel safely and free from the fear of crime.
"This is why we are funding an extra 50 British Transport Police officers to patrol the national railway network in outer London - bringing an increased sense of security to the many thousands of Londoners who rely on the suburban rail network."
Deputy London Mayor Richard Barnes, the assembly member for Ealing and Hillingdon, welcomed Mr Johnson's announcement.
He said: "I am delighted that Boris is taking seriously the safety of people travelling in my constituency.
"Low level crime can blight people's lives. This is why the new teams of transport police are so important in providing visible reassurance to rail passengers.
"If we are encouraging people onto public transport, it is crucial that they can use the trains without fear of crime or intimidation."
