A pressure group has unveiled a bold new vision for the next 100 years of Ealing Broadway Town centre.

A pressure group has unveiled a bold new vision for the next 100 years of Ealing Broadway Town centre.

The Save Ealing Centre Alliance has prepared the plan for a new look town which they will submit to the council, MPs and the Mayor of London.

Proposed plans include an arts and conference centre, refurbished town hall, new police station, a transport interchange over Ealing Broadway railway tracks, a hotel and visitor centre, all keeping within traditional Ealing architecture.

Tony Miller of SEC said residents came together to create an alternative plan to those being proposed by developers and which truly reflects what they want and need.

Mr Miller said: "The original town was built to meet a wide range of community needs, not just for shopping, and this is what we should be doing again.

"We want the Broadway to be a genuine mixed-use town centre with a full range of services and attractions which will bring in people from across the borough and the wider surrounding area.

"We should not be trying to compete head-on with centres like Westfield and our council should now show some imagination and grasp the chance to bring in investment which would match the foresight of those who built the original town centre 100 years ago."

Copies of SEC's vision can be downloaded from the 'About SEC' section at www.saveealingscentre.com.

Hard copies can be obtained from Tony Miller at 6 Winscombe Crescent, W5 1AZ, tel: 07773 783695, or Anthony Lewis at 20A Woodville Gardens, W5 2LQ, tel: 020 8991 2820.
